Once the Undermountain campaign is completed, three daily quests are unlocked to explore the most hidden depths of Undermountain and defeat their monstrosities.
1. REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
2nd Mission: Sends you to get a first Etched rune from the final treasure coffin.
3rd Mission: This mission will ask you to restore 965 IL equipment that you can find while farming resonances or while inside the ME: Ignore the mission as is a waste of resources for small profit.
The most important is that after pick this quest, you will get the Enhanced Runic Resonator, which will allow you to loot the final treasure chest and obtain Etched Runes from them (one per ME run). These etched runes are so important, as trading them to Zok (see below point 7) will provide Astral Diamonds and a chance to acquire some extraordinary artifact sets and 1,000 IL equipment.
These expeditions are by far the best reward, given the treasures offered and their relative speed when completing them.
They can be undertaken alone or in groups, and their difficulty is variable in terms of the use of crystallized runes that the protagonist can place on the pedestals of the first chamber within the expedition, with which the rewards will increase, as well as the difficulty of the Enemies.
1. REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
- Level 80.
- Undermountain Campaign Progress completion
- Etched Sphere mission completed
- One to five participants. Depending the amount of crystallized resonances added to the altars (either 0, 1, 2 or full 3), the difficulty will increase:
- For 0 resonances, every level 80 character should be able to soloing it. Be aware that without placed resonances, the treasure coffin in the final boss' chamber will remain locked.
- For 1 crystallized resonance, it is advised to run it with at least 2 or more players or will take so long. (a weak character could even fail).
- For 2 crystallized resonances, a moderated full party is advised.
- For 3 crystallized resonances, it is advised to run with a full party. If the team attempts the Watcher set (see below point 8), you will need a tank and a healer and prepare for a tough battle.
2. REQUIREMENTS TO GATHER RESONANCES:
To obtain the crystallized resonances, make sure you completed the following progress with Runemaster
Sinyé (this npc is located in the second history of the Yawning Portal):
1st Mission: Sends you to find and restore an epic item located as random drop in the runic coloured bubbles.
2nd Mission: Sends you to get a first Etched rune from the final treasure coffin.
3rd Mission: This mission will ask you to restore 965 IL equipment that you can find while farming resonances or while inside the ME: Ignore the mission as is a waste of resources for small profit.

3. ACQUIRING CRYSTALLIZED RESONANCES
The resonances are available as random drops by hitting the mobs inside the runic Undermountain encounters that show as bubbles of various colours. They will appear on the map as long as they're active, showing as a coloured sphere with a rune inside.
Every ten resonances of the same type can be converted into a crystallized resonance, within the Master expedition, on the altars themselves where you must place them.

4. STARTING THE MASTER EXPEDITION (ME)

Talk with Obaya Uday to pick each one of the three available dailies (one per completion). This quest will allow you to travel through the Undermountain map near to her, towards the Master Expedition start. Start the queue only once you were ready recruiting your team.
Most of the recruitment to create a party for ME, is done in the Yawning Portal area, through the "LFM ME" phormula. This is so easy to find group, just typing in the Looking for Group channel "LFG ME". But if you want an expertise group going for 3 resonances' ME, you might want to create a party with the Alliance/Guild or check for high geared members, including a tank and eventually a healer.
Once inside the Master expedition, the first hall contains three altars or pedestals where the party leader can convert 10 resonances of a same type into crystallized resonances. This operation can be repeated as many times as resonances were available in inventory. You can then lock the crystallized resonance into the altar/pedestal to boost the rewards of the master expedition, as well as increasing the difficulty. Those rewards are found in the chest at the end of the expedition. For RAD, gold and RP, everyone has to loot them inside the ME or those leaving will lose their shared portion.
5. GATHERING RELICS:
As the party moves through the Undermountain labyrinth of caverns and chambers, monsters, runic traps, treasure coffins and old relics can be found.

Crystallized Resonance Types:
- Chaos (Orange): Adds 3,000 RAD to the treasure chest.
- Balance (Yellow): Adds 8 gold.
- Empowered (Green): Adds a random non-class item.
- Rage (Red): Adds a classed random item.
- Sacrifice (Pink): Adds 2,500 Refinement Points.
5. GATHERING RELICS:
As the party moves through the Undermountain labyrinth of caverns and chambers, monsters, runic traps, treasure coffins and old relics can be found.
Collect all the nine Relics that could be found through the expedition to maximize the possible reward from Ubaya Uday at the Yawning Portal. (A must if you are behind the Alabaster set).
Every time the party finds a timing gate, this is advised to make sure your team gathered all 3 or 6 relics, as there won't be a way to return back once the party transitioned to the next area.
6. THROUGH THE EXPEDITION:
Every expedition is different, as Undermountain generates a random map which will have a random size in each case.
Usually the map will contain three separated areas requiring a timing bubble that once crossed, won't allow the team to go back. Each of these stages typically contain up to 3 relics to be gathered to maximize the Obaya Uday's final reward.
There are other standard gates in the path of the adventurers, some of which will be key-locked, requiring to find the key, owned by so strong Monster before be able to keep advancing.
At each of the three stages, the party will have to fight a boss, each of which will reward 5 to 10 coalesced treasures, some Undermountain seals and a chance to drop some Undermountain Epic gear (950 IL).
The last chamber containing the final boss, will also contain the main treasure coffin, available if at least one crystallized resonance was attached in the altars of the start of the master Expedition.
7. SPECIAL AVAILABLE REWARDS:
Aside the Astral Diamonds, Refinement points, Gold and Random Epic Gear available while exploring the Undermountain, some special treasures can be found, such:
8. THE WATCHERS SET:
7. SPECIAL AVAILABLE REWARDS:
Aside the Astral Diamonds, Refinement points, Gold and Random Epic Gear available while exploring the Undermountain, some special treasures can be found, such:
- 15,000 AD & chance for 1k Gear and artifacts: Rare drop chance through the Chests of Lost Adventurers, acquirable from the npc Zok (right-down corner in the first history of the Yawning Portal. The etched runes acquired in the ME's boss treasure chest can be traded by these). These chests will reward 5,000 RAD, and a chance for random gear, vanity pets or these artifacts.
- Alabaster Set: Random chance in the 3 daily Obaya Uday's quests given reward. (To have collected the nine relics is required to have a chance to get the alabaster set pieces).
- Restored Gear: Sometimes, a mob will drop a random piece of unrestored gear, which once restored (at a high cost and getting a pointless upgrade) will make a 965 IL piece of gear. Not recommended.
- Watcher's artifact weapon set: See below.
The special and rare Watchers artifacts weapons set could be found through the expertise Master Expedition with 3 attached crystallized resonances.
After killing any boss, thee will be a chance to spawn a blue ghost Maiden, which can be given one of the different essences sometimes rewarded in the final treasure coffin inside the ME (such as the Essence of longing, Essence of Sorrow, etc).
This will immediately spawn a new and strong boss who the party will have to beat for a chance to get one of the two weapon pieces as well for legendary vanity pets.
This is highly advised to AVOID summoning the essence of longing, as an ultra-strong tank boss might spawn, which is currently now reported to be virtually immune to damage.
